Stairs to the beach :
July 2025 – FIRST PHASE IS COMPLETE!
August 2025 – SECOND PHASE IS COMPLETE!
You may notice some fresh work on the stairs to the beach, thanks to Ron Watts and helpers David Poskitt and Donn Aven. Despite this author’s request to put in an escalator, they have instead begun the careful restoration of the structure, which was due for repairs.
The crew has been hard at work, and were able to complete a refresh of the treads and landings of the upper portion of the stairs last weekend (June 21-22). A little trimming of the exposed landings is yet to be done and will be completed soon.
The next step (pun intended!) is to replace the bottom section eastern post and supports, which the crew is looking to complete later in August. As always, please use the stairs with appropriate caution, especially with chairs, floaties, dogs and coolers in the mix. Thanks to Ron, David and Donn for all their handy work!
Reserve A – plans for restoration
In January 2024, a large section of Reserve A “the bluff” slid to the beach. The CWB Community Reps have discussed and are working on an action plan for preservation of the bluff. To ensure a comprehensive plan is in place, we will review all areas of our community maintenance, including roads, drainage, bluff trees/bushes and erosion to date. Stay tuned for more information!
